LogroƱo Town Hall in SIRDEE - 23-08-2010
Logroño Local Police has recently joined the SIRDEE network. Logroño is the capital city of La Rioja Autonomous Region and has a population of over 150,000.
The SIRDEE network continues to receive new users from different public safety and emergency organizations, highlighting its suitability as a means of providing secure communications and in-the-field coordination to public safety and emergency users.
Apart from the MoI organizations - Guardia Civil and National Police - several other fleets have joined SIRDEE: Traffic Police, Royal House, Prime Minister Cabinet, Emergency Military Unit (UME), Spanish Navy, Galicia Region Autonomous Police, Torrelavega Local Police and Fire Brigade and the Cantabria Region Civil Protection Service, as well as the recently joined Balearic Islands and Logroño.
Participation in CWID 2010 - 23-08-2010
The NAC-32 demo “Data Transmission in Direct Mode via TETRAPOL”, presented by EADS Defence and Security Solutions España, has been selected by Emergency Military Unit (UME) and General de la Guardia Civil (GC) Headquarters, and will be evaluated during the CWID (Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration) 2010 exercise.
Both UME and GC have evaluated the data transmission in direct mode shown during the demonstration. With testing successful, the system’s availability for implementation in operational networks would be very useful for the evaluators, for implementing applications such as remote access to databases or sending messages for purposes such as positioning.
Contract renewal with Telefonica for SIRDEE 2010-2013 - 23-08-2010
Telefónica has accepted an EADS proposal for a frame supply agreement for the SIRDEE project covering the four year period from 2010 to 2013.
As well as the supply of TETRAPOL products for the SIRDEE network and its users, the agreement will include EADS maintenance services for SIRDEE and its associated terminals.
Balearic Islands in SIRDEE - 23-08-2010
The Regional Government of the Balearic Islands has awarded Telefónica a contract that will enable it join SIRDEE, the Spanish MoI’s TETRAPOL national network.
Under the terms of the contract, the Regional Emergency Services, including Civil Protection & 112 services, will be integrated into the network. Plans are also in hand for the Fire Service, Medical Emergency Service and different Local Police organizations to join SIRDEE in the future.
The Balearic Islands constitute one of the Spanish Autonomous Regions. The main islands are Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, some of the main tourist destinations in Spain. The global population in the archipelago is over 1 million, a figure that balloons during holiday periods.
Cantabria gets on board - 04-11-2009
The Government of Cantabria is deploying TETRAPOL for a wide range of its autonomous public safety organisations, including civil protection and emergency services, local police, fire brigades, environmental protection agencies, road traffic officers and health services. Bringing these local services onto the SIRDEE network provides them with robust and effective TETRAPOL communications for their day-to-day operations. It will also help them co-ordinate their missions with national agencies, such as the Guardia Civil or National Police, when the need arises.
UME steps up communication - 04-11-2009
Spain’s emergency military unit, UME, has joined the national SIRDEE network after already using TETRAPOL terminals to enable officers to talk to each other in Direct Mode. UME officers can now benefit from the excellent communications services provided by the SIRDEE network. They will be able to co-ordinate with other agencies across SIRDEE, or deploy their own IDR equipment to provide independent tactical communications.
UME is the Spanish military agency responsible for responding to a wide range of major emergencies, whether natural or man-made, such as forest fires or floods among others.
Mobile units shed light on coverage black spots - 04-11-2009
The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has successfully tested the VPW vehicular gateway’s ability to extend TETRAPOL network coverage into hard-to-reach areas such as underground car parks. A standard TPM700 mobile radio can be upgraded to work as a vehicular gateway simply by connecting it to a VPW unit.
The gateway can extend coverage into even the deepest metro stations and two floors down in underground car parks. It also enables officers working above ground to maintain a robust connection with the network up to 1.5 or 2km away from their vehicles.
Satellite links for ultimate coverage - 04-11-2009
EADS successfully demonstrated the ability to link TETRAPOL networks with satellite links at the Spanish CWID (Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration) 2009. EADS showed how all the services provided by a TETRAPOL IP can be made available anywhere by deploying base stations and linking them via satellite.
