Ministry of Interior Tests Tetrapol

Matra Nortel Communications and the Scientific Association of Informatics and Telecommunication held a joint conference on emergency radio-communication systems in Budapest. The heads of the PMR Division of Matra Nortel emphasised the importance of the introduction of this high-tech digital technology for emergency and security organisations in Hungary. The president of Tetrapol Forum accounted about the vast international experience and references of this technology. Matra Nortel announced the launch of a pilot project in order to introduce this system in Hungary.

Matra Nortel has been involved in the development of PMR systems since 1987 so as to provide more reliable and effective radio-communication networks for public and private organisations. The most preferred clients of PMR systems are the emergency organisations, such as e.g. the police, the border patrol service, the fire department, the ambulance and the customs office.

Numerous European countries, e.g. Great Britain (Defence Ministry), Germany (NATO Air Base), France (Interior and Defence Ministry), Spain (National and Catalan Police) use the Tetrapol system proving the adaptability of this technology. A number of non-EU member countries have also accepted the Tetrapol system: the Czech Republic (Interior and Defence Ministry), the Slovak Republic (Interior Ministry) and Romania (Security Forces) use the Tetrapol system.

The Hungarian Interior Ministry, which has prepared to meet the security requirements of the Schengen Treaty, has already started to collect information and experience on the Tetrapol and Tetra technologies. The Tetrapol system meets the Schengen standards. Momentarily, the Police are the only department of the Interior Ministry, which take part in the pilot testing in Budapest.
